Connect to the VC ...
  • With H.323 VC equipment like Polycom VC hardware that _is_ connected to the Global Dialing System (GDS):
    Use VC GDS dialstring: 004910097920354
  • With H.323 VC equipment like Polycom VC hardware that _is not_ connected to the Global Dialing System (GDS):
    You can make of use of the public gatekeeper provided by DFN. In your VC gear configure any arbitrary H.323 alias and E.164 number (phone number) _and_ configure pgk.vc.dfn.de (or 194.95.240.220) as its gatekeeper then use VC dialstring 004910097920354 to connect to the VC.
  • With an Ekiga VC client by using the following URI:
    h323:97920354@mcu.vc.dfn.de
    This is referred to as H.323-URI-dialing which is supported by Ekiga and our MCUs - successfully tested with Ekiga running on a Linux system.
  • By phone (POT) for a two-way audio-only connection to the VC:
    Dial +49 30 2541080 then wait for the nice lady to ask for the conference number, then enter 97920354 and finally enter a hash (#) key.
  • By watching a video/audio stream in Realplayer/Quicktime format; browser plug-ins are needed (Quicktime has less slack); the stream is only available when the VC is running:
    Go to https://www.vc.dfn.de/en/konferenzen/streaming.html
    Enter the conference number 004910097920354 and conference password XXXX. Then choose a nick for the chat and your stream player.
  • By watching a video/audio stream with VLC: VLC is also able to process the stream.

    Enter the conference number 004910097920354 and conference password XXXX. Then choose a nick for the chat and a stream player (even if you don't have that plug-in installed).
    You need to extract the URL for VLC from the web-page's source code and paste it into the appropriate VLC dialog, the URL looks similar to <rtsp://mcu[1-6].vc.dfn.de/conf_h263_g711u_1536000__97920354>

We will also try to provide a content channel for displaying the slides and for real-time community editing of documents via Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro Meeting utilizing an installed Adobe Flash browser plug-in:

Enter the conference number 004910097920354 and conference password XXXX and choose a nick. A web page with Flash will open showing the digital content as live stream from the presenter.

Testing

You can test all of this right now (except for streaming and content) to see if your VC gear is working with our MCUs - but be prepared to be the only participant to that VC right now. If you need a peer for testing two way video and audio with more than your own signals give us a shout and we can schedule a common test slot in the week before the meeting for anybody who wants to test this more thoroughly in advance.

If you have problems connecting yourself to the VC we might be able to invite your H.323 VC endpoint directly via the VC control tools. Please let us know in time if you want to avail of this option.

If you must use EVO despite of all these option, let us know in time and we also try to facilitate that...
